Laptop AC Adapters and Power Cords:

This page is to inform you about the dangers of generic adapters and let you know which adapters we carry. Pricing is below. We try to stock 95% of all existing power cords at any given time.

Not all AC adapters are created equal. Aftermarkets can damage your laptop. We have seen it hundreds of times.

Generic AC adapters come in several flavors. There are 2 types we're going to cover here:
1. Universal Laptop Adapter. Some retail stores sell generic adapters with multiple tips. These are possibly the worst adapter to plug into your laptop! These do NOT operate at the correct wattage your machine was manufactured to work with. These have huge profit margins on them. We hear all the time about people buying these for $80 - $120 or more, which is absurd.
2. Generic AC adapter. These physically look a lot like your original adapter, but usually "feel cheap", because- they are. They typically weigh less and have a cheaper feeling plastic. On the back instead of having a name brand they typically say "AC Adapter". Some are even deceptively called "Genuine Adapters". These are typcially found online and are usually around $20. A lot of these malfunction very quickly. Some may last 1 - 3 months and they can damage your laptop with fluctuating voltages and improper wattage.

Sometimes people use these generic adapters with no problems but the problems are significant enough that we will not sell them here.

Here we sell genuine AC adapters. We have genuine IBM, Lenovo, Sony, Dell and HP adapters. Acer, Gateway, Toshiba, Emachines, Asus, etc adapters typically have their name, Delta or Li Shin labeled on them. We do not sell generic adapters. When we inherit them they go directly into the trash. Almost all of our adapters are new. Some adapters, especially for older models, are simply not available new. In this event we usually have a good used adapter available. A used OEM adapter is better than a new generic adapter. We simply aim to provide you with the best adapter possible.

We stock most adapters. If you want to be certain we have an adapter in stock before driving here please give us a quick call. If you call please have the model # of your laptop handy and/or your AC adapter. We aim to keep most of them around $49 price range. Higher wattage adapters do cost more. We also stock Netbook adapters.
