How To re-activate Windows or Change Product Key
Thursday, October 29, 2009
If for some reason you need to update your Windows product key in Vista, XP or Windows 7, it can be done. This is usually needed in Windows XP if a problem occurs with Windows Genuine Advantage notifications.
Microsoft has a PKU (Product Key Update) tool available here:

Solution for Vista not showing DVD or CD drive
Tuesday, September 22, 2009
Problem: Windows Vista is not showing your DVD / CD drive and there is an error in Device Manager.
Cause: Unknown. We've seen this on a handful of machines. On some occasions, it even reoccurs in 6-12mos.
Solution:
1. Use REGEDIT and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
2. Delete UpperFilters
3. Delete LowerFilters (if present)
4. Reboot
This will usually fix the problem.
