Express Upgrade to Windows Vista allows you to use Windows XP today and Windows Vista when it's available at no additional charge. Well, the price is already factored in- this is usually done for many reasons, including holiday computer sales; manufacturers want to be able to move as many machines as possible during Q4 and consumers don't want to spend an extra $200 in a few months to get the latest software on their latest hardware.

Express Upgrade to Windows Vista offers are available from participating computer manufacturers, including Lenovo, Toshiba, Sony and more. The full list and other details are available on MS's Expres Upgrade page.

Milledgeville, GA laptop repair services.

Another laptop came in today from Milledgeville. We had never heard of Milledgeville before and asked the customer how he (Art) had found us. It turns out that his laptop had been sitting at a computer repair shop for some time. Apparently nobody at the shop was willing to work on it. The computer store found us online and told the customer he could try us.

Art was skeptical and shipped his laptop in. We’re right here in North Carolina, so the laptop arrived via Ground in only 48hrs. A few days later we called Art to tell him that his HP ZE5300 laptop simply needed our power jack repair service. Art was thrilled. The power jack repair service here is $149. We wrapped up the laptop and got it shipped back out to him and everyone lived happily ever after.

It is because of customers such as Art that we started the services to begin with. =)

EMachine M6805 with Fan Problems

An EMachine M6805 laptop came in for repair last week with fan problems. The fans were working, but one of them was very loud and annoying our customer. The machine was here for a few days while we obtained the part and installed it.

Now It is running both cool and quiet!

Finally official. Google buys YouTube.

So many people have an opinion on this, we’re just going to leave it alone. $1.6b? The deal is probably easily worth more than that to Google. Google has made a lot of good moves.

Dell Inspiron 600m Laptop Repair- Running on Battery Only

Lately we have had Dell Latitude 600m laptops in for repair on a daily basis. They come in for several reasons, however, by far the most common is a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop running on battery only. If the laptop runs on battery only and will not recognize the AC adapter, it can be repaired here. Don’t let anyone tell you that you need a new motherboard.

This problem is often caused by a bad power jack. Also, on occasion certain motherboard components fail. We’ve tracked down almost all of the issues that the 600m has and fix the motherboard for a flat $149 fee.

ThinkPad R50e Running from Battery only


This week an IBM ThinkPad R50e laptop came in for repair. It was running on battery only and would not recognize the AC adapter or power cord. This is a rare issue for an R50e.

During our free diagnostics we discovered a component on the motherboard had failed. We were able to replace the component. Our customer had been quoted $700 for a repair elsewhere but was able to get it repaired with us as a standard motherboard repair @ $149!

Sony to Initiate Global Replacement Program for Laptop Batteries

Sony Corporation will initiate a global replacement program for certain battery packs that utilize Sony-manufactured lithium ion cells used by notebook computer manufacturers.

Sony will announce details of the program in the near future.

Fujitsu recalls 287,000 laptop batteries

Japanese electronics maker Fujitsu Ltd. said Wednesday it is recalling 287,000 laptop batteries manufactured by Sony Corp., the latest in a massive global recall of the batteries that can overheat and catch fire.

At this time, there have not been any reports of Fujitsu laptops bursting into flames.
