DELL Closes NC plant & Eliminates 905 Jobs

As we mentioned last year on our blog, Dell is closing factories. They do not manufacture most of their own computers so there is no need for factories.

Against many taxpayer's wishes, the North Carolina General Assembly gave Dell over $240,000,000.00 in tax breaks to open up the Winston-Salem plant less than 4yrs ago.

The NC State Governor & Secretary of Commerce chimed in today to announce the "market forces" and "economy" caused Dell to close the factory. But Dell announced a looong time ago that it is simply cheaper for them to buy their products than to manufacture them.

Basically none of these jobs were lost they were just moved overseas.
