Creative came up with a creative way to upset almost everyone online the other day. The story is summed up nicely on the Consumerist website here.
Basically, Creative's drivers/utils for Vista stink. A fan made better drivers/utils for them (restoring the initial functionality they once had under a different OS). Creative told him to stop and remove them so nobody could use them. That was a very bad move. Not making them in the first place was a very bad move, too.
For years and years Creative has made very nice audio products for PCs... Over the years we've seen many tech companies come and go, and, unless Creative changes their "tune" very fast, well, you know the rest.
