We’re commonly asked “What is error 174?”
This basically means that your IBM ThinkPad laptop’s BIOS is unable to recognize the hard drive.

Sorry, the above post wasn't very clear. Basically, you need to replace the hard drive.
We can sell you one if you need one, possibly w/ the original 600E image if you have Windows 98.. 919-468-3999.
Physically replacing the HD is easy in the 600E. There is one screw holding the hard drive door closed, on the bottom of the machine, towards the front...
